Regardless if night or day, their tentacles are always exposed and out showing their elegant color, especially with the right lghting rquirement. This are the water parameters for cultivating Elegance Coral:

  • Calcium: 420 - 430 ppm
  • Alkalinity: 2.86 - 4.29 MEQ/L (8 - 12 dKH)
  • Phosphates: 0
  • Magnesium: 1280 - 1350
  • Strontium: 8 -10 mg/L
  • Temperature: 72° - 78° F (22° - 26° C)
  • Salinity / Specific Gravity: 1.023 - 1.025
  • pH: 8.1 - 8.4

Elegance Coral Diet & Nutrition

While the Elegance Coral gets it primary nourishment from a symbiotic zooxanthellae living within its tissues, they require supplemental feeding like the addition of mysis or brine shrimp. We also recommend the addition of dissolved nutrients.

Fragging / Propagating Elegance Coral

A mature tank is highly recommened in cultivating Elegance Coral. They should be set on the bottom part of the tank. In setting them, make sure to place their skeletal foundation to a soft rubble to prevent flesh irritation.

Flow / Lighting Requirements for Elegance Coral

The Elegance Coral requires moderate lighting and low to medium waterflow.

Elegance Coral Origin

The Elegance Coral can be found in the waters of Western Central Atlantic and in the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are now considered as a vulnerable species and has been listed under Appendix II of the CITES list, which means that their international trade is monitored.

Caution Should be Taken with Elegance Coral

The Elegance Coral has an aggressive behaviour. So, you have to give them ample space between corals. This is on top of the fact that their long tentacles can sting and invade nearby polyps.

How to Acclimate Elegance Coral

Elegance Coral are purely marine species. Therefore, salinity must be entirely maintained from 1.023 to 1.025 specific gravity.

Stinging Tentacles on Elegance Coral

The long tentacles of the Elegance Coral are considered sweeper tentacles. This means that it will try to reach nearby coral polyps while invading their colony. You also have to remember that their stinging tentacles can also irritate a human flesh. So, wearing gloves in handling them is highly recommended.
