Aquarium Heater Dilemma Solved for Good!

Are we overhyping the use of aquarium heaters? Aquarium heaters are one piece of equipment that we question if we actually need while we are out buying all the stuff we need for our new tank. However, after some deep research, you'll realize it is an essential piece of equipment.

Answering the Big Question

Most of us in this hobby are keeping tropical fish. And while some exceptions keep cold water fish. But they are the exception. You most likely keep a type of fish that requires at least 78 degrees or so to live comfortably in your tank. Whenever and wherever it is that you are reading this from is irrelevant.

It could be August in Florida or December in New York. But we live indoors in a controlled environment and that means our tanks do too. We are either blasting the AC is summer or cranking up the heat in winter. But your room temperature is usually gonna be too cold for your tropical fish.

If the water is too cold for too long, it will weaken their immune systems and leave them prone to a plethora of diseases, most likely the ick parasite.

You Need Heaters

So, no it is not overhyped. You do need a heater in your tank and don't let this be the equipment you go cheap on.

Heaters are an electronic piece of equipment, submerged in the water that remains powered for 24/7. It's got temperature sensors, adjustment dials, cut-off switches, just to name a few component. When this heater fails, it can literally wipe out your entire tank.

Therefore, give your choice if heater a thorough research session. Make sure the heater you choose is fail safe, something you can put your complete faith.
