How to fix your Fish Tank: This is why your Aquarium Fish are dying

In this article, we are talking about how you can fix your established tank that you've had for a few months. The water might be a little cloud, there might be some extra food on the bottom, the plants might not be looking right.

Back to Basics

Go back to your basics. Make sure you are not overfeeding the fish. Ensure the lighting system is in place, and don't just leave it on blue light. You should only give the tank light eight hours a day. Reset yourself—are you doing everything right?

Feeding the fish once or twice a day, no more than they can eat in five minutes. Now, let's fix the tank.

Fixing the Tank

The first thing you need to do is a 20% water change, which you must do a couple of times a week. Then, you can go back to your normal maintenance cycle.

Next, clean out your filters and remove all the debris. You can do it in a few steps. First, do the water changes. Then, with a little more room in the tank, snip and remove all the dead plant pieces.

Also, you need gravel cleaners. Look for something about half the length of the height of your aquarium, and it should siphon. Finish it all by adding fresh water back into the tank.

Adding Medicne

You can add dechlorinator and some ick medicine. This way, you are not treating a sick fish but a sick tank. The goal is to get your water chemistry back on track to keep your fish and plants happy.

Medicine is essential to supplement the water changes in a sick tank. Now, it's all about patience. After two more water changes, you can add fresh fish to your treated tank.

In Conclusion

Most new fishes die in fresh tanks because it adds stress to the animals. Or maybe you've added too many fish, or your tank might also be at a point where it is ready for an Ammonia spike, and this tipped the scale. It doesn't take a lot of Ammonia to make fish sick.

Therefore follow the steps above and that should solve your problems from the roots.
