3-D printing has paved the way for some innovative and affordable accessories for our reef tanks. So, here are the top 3 3-D printed things you can get for your reef tank.
1. Controller Mounting Bracket
Any DCC-powered will always come with a control box. But mounting these boxes is usually a little messy. But you can get a 3-D printed bracket for a nominal sum.
And while you can find in-build brackets by some brands, they cost thrice as much as the equivalent of a 3-D printed part, which all adds up if you have 405 pumps.
You can also get a 3-D printed power brick bracket which would free up a lot of space in your cabinet.
2. Tunze ATO Bracket
The Tunze ATO draws water from the bottom, but you might never get to stand straight, so it lies on its side. But that is fixed by this little pump holder, which grips the pump and holds it upright.
This might sound trivial, but it can make your tank reserves last extra days because the pump can draw fresh water containers much lower.
And, the best thing is it will not cost much.
3. 45-Degree Frag Plug Holder
It makes mounting corals on your aquarium's weir box or back glass. This gives you extra space for the coral you keep buying despite having nowhere to put them.
You can get 90-degree holders for any right angle in your tank, like in the top corner.
4. Hanna Organizer
The box in which Hanna box comes in can be a little chunky and not very good for quick access. But these 3-D printer organizers are vastly superior. For a start, their color matched and labeled.
So, it is immediately apparent which checker is which, and they also make quick access much more accessible. In addition, they hold all the necessary reagents and cuvettes you need.
5. MP40 Flow Director
You can only point your MP40 in one direction. But, with these flow directors, you can fix that and do a surprisingly good job. The cage outlet has slats that point the flow at an angle, and the case is much filer mesh than a start cage.
It still pulls in if it is too close to the water's surface. But it does go some way to removing the most significant drawbacks of MP40 and would add flow to your tank, which was before.
