Even the best fish food is missing many essential nutrients that your fish need. These nutrients are lost in the processing of commercial fish food. So we have to supplement them to make sure your fishes get everything they need.
In this article, we are sharing all the supplements that Kev from Kave Man Aquatics uses and why he uses them.
This article will not be focusing on the best brand of fish food, but on the supplement you should add to your fish food and replace the missing nutrients to enhance your fish's growth, color, longevity, and overall happiness.
Get your fish's food, a mixing cup, and the spoon that you use to feed the food. For 30 African Cichlid tanks, Kev feeds a full tablespoon of pellets.
Fish Food
You want to feed enough food that gets eaten in about 2 minutes. Any more than that, and you'll run into problems with overfeeding.
Kave feeds all these types of food:
- Cichlid Formula
- Cichlid Veggie
- Krill Formula
This is great to add some variety to your fish food.
Garlic Gaurd
We all know that Garlic guard is a flavor enhancer for fish food. If you have a finicky eater that does not want to eat, this product will help them it. But there's so much more to it than that.
Garlic also contains allicin which has a huge impact on fish health, especially when it comes to fish diseases and parasite resistance.
You can also use pure crushed garlic and get the same benefits.
Use a cap full of Garlic guard per feeding.
Vitality
A very important vitamin that gets destroyed by the processing of commercial fish food is Vitamin C. It is, by far, the most important vitamin for your fish. Just like with us, it helps boost the immune system of your fish.
You'll notice some awesome regrowth of fins after some fighting or aggression problems in your tank just by feeding them a cap full of vitality once per day.
VitaChem
Northland food has a great number of amino acids but is missing some important ones - like multivitamins and amino acids. These essential amino acids will ensure healthy fish overall and will also help in infinite regrowth as well.
VitaChem is super concentrated, so only use one drop per 10-gallon tank of water.
Zoa Plankton
This is essentially used in saltwater reef tanks to aid in the growth and coloration of corals. Still, it also provides a boost to natural melanin production, which brings out the awesome colors of fish that have high pigmentation.
Adding this will make your fish color pop. So take a one-full cup of Zoa Plankton per feeding.
Ready for Feeding
This is the process of one-time feeding. You can also set this food up with this mixture for the whole week. Now, let the mixture sit for 30 minutes and wait for the pellets to soak it all up.
You'll know your food is ready for feeding when all the pellets are gone, and it just looks mushy.
