When you think of RO/DI units Aquatic Life was most likely not one of the brands you thought of right away, well they may have just changed the game with their new RO/DI unit.
The aquarium hobby if full of gadgets and gizmos for things we had no idea that we needed until we saw them and then we wondered how we lived without them, but sometimes the basic stuff is overlooked. RO/DI unit have been in the hobby for some time especial for people who have a Saltwater tank, it gets old real quick having to go out and lug water from your LFS, not to mention the times you needed water and your LFS was closed. For that reason and many other reasons RO/DI units have become popular items to have a home.
Most RO/DI units come with 3 twists on media chambers that in my opinion are a pain to deal with, I hate having to change them because getting them untwisted to get to the inner cartridge that needs to be replaced is a pain. Then making sure you tighten it enough to prevent it from leaking, but not too tight where you break it. I know some of you are thinking WAAA, Waaa, waaa. I don't like dealing with it but you have to if you decided to make your own water.
Apparently, I was not the only one who thought it was a pain because Aquatic Life has come out with a new RO/DI unit that is either 3 or 4 stages that make changing the cartridges super simple to twist in or out.
I love anything that makes the hobbies chores easier or faster to get done. While this maybe some that I have to deal with on a daily, weekly or monthly basis its still one of those chores that I look at and say, ahh I'll do it next weekend. With a system this simple you can change all 3-4 stages in just a few min.
Here is an install video, if you have installed an RO/DI unit before you probably do not want to watch the entire video, I did to see if there was a difference in the install process and really there is not. So if you want to just see them install the cartridges then jump to about 6:40 spot, it will show you how easy they are to install and the process to flush the carbon cartridges.
What do you think about this new RO/DI unit?
