7. Julidochromis

They are an albino form fish. They like to swim vertical, diagonal, or sideways. They love to live in caves but don't move around a lot. Given this fish breed pretty easily, a little rockwork, and caves, you can keep a trio to up to six in a 20-gallon (long-form) aquarium. 

In the 20-gallon (tall-form) aquarium, you want to move down to a pair. Let them breed and as they raise up a colony should work out much better for you.

They are a great fish and only get about 3-inches. It is a great choice for your fish Lake Tanganyikan Cichlid.

6. Leopard Danio

This category includes both long-fin and short-fin leopard danios. They look like little trouts. They are very active fish, so 20-long is better than 20-tall. You can keep them in the un-heated tank. They are real fast feeders.

Pair them with other Tetras, Danios, Rasboras, and that type of fish that usually hang out around the top third of the aquarium.

Furthermore, they are not picky. So, you can feed them almost everything. Keep them in a group of 6 or more. They are tolerant to a wide range of hardness and pH. 

5. German Blue Ram

You can keep them in pairs or trios. Usually, the female variant has blue speckles inside the dot with a pink belly, and shorter Dorsel fins, whereas the male doesn't have any blue spangles inside the black dot, and their dorsal ray is extended.

These fishes like to be kept in hotter water, which is the only downfall. They dig little impression to create breeding spaces. You can keep them with Cardinal Tetras and other smaller fish.

4. Harlequin Rasbora

They are great schooling fish. It gets a lot of the nice purple in the pork chop port and organizes caste over the tail.

They get about 2-inches in size. Get them in a group of eight or ten adn let them bounce around your 20-gallon aquarium of yours.

It might not be the best thing you have ever seen or the coolest thing, but no one hates them. They are great, solid, hearty fish that looks great, and they tend to stand out against a green backdrop and other fishes.

3. Apistogramma

They are a cool dwarf cichlid, only gets about 3-inches. They usually pair up and live in a cave. This fish likes to swim in the lower third of your aquarium, everything else will swim above it.

They like to be kept in warmer water too (82 Fahrenheit). They are fairly easy to breed and raise up their fry. In short, Apistogramma in general is a great fish and is a real treat to work with.

2. Panda Corydoras

They only get about two inches long. You want to keep them in a group of six or more. But, these fishes can thrive in cooler water (down to 72 degrees). They are a great bottom feeder. You want to have nice marbles on them. You don't want to have very sharp gravel that's not sharp.

They like to eat the worm and Rapashi food. Make sure not to keep them like scavengers only but also feed them properly.

1. Rainbow Fish

These fishes are available in a few different varieties. They are a great option for a fully-planted tank. With nice blue eyes, they make an excellent choice for rare fish tanks.
