The tank should be well-planted and have a gravel substrate, the tank should also have a cover since these fish are jumpers. These fish are peaceful and can be kept in a community aquarium with other small fish. They should be kept in groups of at least 8 in a 20 gallon tank.

This species is omnivorous. In the wild it feeds on insects and larvae but in captivity it can be fed with dried, live or frozen food like bloodworm, Dapnhia, etc.

This species is an egg scatterer that exhibits no parental care. Spawning can be induced by adding small amounts of cold water every few hours and by feeding live and frozen foods. After the eggs are fertilized, the adults should be removed to prevent them from eating the eggs. The eggs take 3 days to hatch.
