Super Red Arowana

The Super Red Arowana is a large freshwater fish that can grow up to 90 cm (35 inches) in length. They have a long, streamlined body with large scales and a distinctive barbels on their lower jaws. The fish has a bold, vibrant red coloration throughout its body with a hint of orange or gold. Their fins are typically red, with some specimens having a hint of gold or black. Juvenile Super Red Arowanas have a darker coloration, but they become brighter as they mature.  Super Red Arowanas are known for their aggressive behavior and territoriality, particularly towards members of their own species. They are also known for their intelligence and can be trained to recognize their owners and even perform tricks. These fish are known for their ability to jump out of the water, so it is important to provide them with a well-fitting cover for their tank.  Super Red Arowanas require a large aquarium with plenty of swimming space and hiding places. The tank should be well-filtered and have a strong water flow. The fish prefer subdued lighting and a dark substrate to enhance their coloration. It is important to maintain stable water conditions and perform regular water changes to keep the fish healthy.  The Super Red Arowana is a stunning and highly sought-after fish that requires specific care and conditions to thrive in captivity. They are intelligent and fascinating fish that require a dedicated and experienced keeper.  

In the wild, Super Red Arowanas feed on a variety of small fish, crustaceans, and insects. In captivity, they can be fed a diet of live or frozen foods such as shrimp, krill, and small fish. It is important to vary their diet to ensure proper nutrition and growth.

Breeding Super Red Arowanas in captivity is challenging and requires specific conditions. They typically breed during the rainy season, and the male will build a nest using plant materials and saliva. The female will lay eggs in the nest, and the male will fertilize them. After hatching, the fry are kept in the nest and are guarded by the male. Once the fry are free-swimming, they can be fed with small live foods such as brine shrimp or microworms. 

Super Red Arowanas are native to Southeast Asia, specifically Malaysia and Indonesia, and can be found in slow-moving rivers, lakes, and swamps. They prefer warm, clear water with pH ranging from 6.0 to 7.5 and a temperature range of 26-30°C. The fish is considered endangered in the wild due to habitat loss, overfishing, and pollution.
